You want your guests to know that you appreciate them taking time out of their schedule to attend your special event. If they have given you a gift, a Thank You note becomes even more important. It is polite to write the notes yourself rather than hiring a service to do this for you. Personal notes are appreciated much more than impersonal ones. It's not only polite - it's proper etiquette.
